Women's Ministry
At Faith, a group meets for quilting each Thursday, from 9am to around noon. No prior quilting experience necessary. The completed quilts are distributed locally to those suffering a crisis, and through the Durand area food pantry, plus globally through Lutheran World Relief. The quilters create 75-100 quilts each year. The group also creates pillows for the dogs and cats at the Pepin County Humane Society.
The Faith women’s group sponsors a child in Mexico, organizes the food pantry collection, and maintains a prayer line for prayer requests from the congregation, community, and national and world events.
At Rock Creek, a group meets for quilting on the last Monday of each month, from 9am to around noon. No prior quilting experience necessary. The assembled quilts are shipped to Lutheran World Relief, where they are distributed around the world. The group completes around 50 quilts each year.
The Rock Creek group also spearheads an annual collection of school supplies each fall. Children in many countries need to provide all their own school supplies. Many families cannot afford to do this, which limits what the children are able to learn. School supplies are packed into individual kits, which are shipped to Lutheran World Relief, to be distributed where needed. With generous donations from congregation members, around 80 school kits are sent each year.
